Remember back in August when I sent in my donation bag to thredUP?! Well, I’m happy to report back and let you guys know they took 82% of my items (which equaled out to 28 pieces)!

The process was effortless. After I shipped my donation bag, all I had to do was wait. 3 weeks later, I received an email letting me know that my bag had been received, and in just another 2 short days, my bag was processed. Just like that… I had a whopping $51.31 in credit to Reformation!

I was extremely pleased with the communication and marketing aspects of this company. In the email including information on my processed clean out kit, I was given specific statistics on how much of my stuff they took, which items they sold, and how much credit I received off of each item. The slides above include direct snippets from the email I received from thredUP. I also was informed that all items that weren’t taken, were sent to their textile recycling partners and repurposed into new, useful products.

To give an idea of how much of an impact this process truly has, in 2017, thredUP saved 174 million tons of clothing and textiles from ending up in a landfill! 174 MILLION TONS!! That is amazing.

With the credit I received, I made my first big purchase at Reformation! The dress (pictured in the last slide) is the Sigmund Dress. It’s so timeless and will be a staple in my closet for years and years to come. And the best part of it all… I easily got to put $51.31 in credit towards it all for properly donating clothes that I no longer needed or wore!

Next time you’re thinking about doing a closet clean out of your own, remember what great incentives and impacts thredUP has to offer. The entire process cost me nothing, yet I was able to get something out of it (including the satisfaction of making a positive impact on the Earth ;)!
