Girlfriend Collective Review

A couple of months ago this company was featured in one of our Sustainable Fashion Fridays. Do you recognize it…?

If not, here’s a quick reminder:

The Girlfriend Collective believes that “one man’s (or woman’s) garbage is another man’s treasure.” They responsibly create high-quality activewear sold at a reasonable price. In addition, Girlfriend Collective is highly size inclusive!

After first hearing about this company sometime last year, I knew trying their activewear was a must! So, back in September I ordered the Dylan Bra and the High-Rise Pocket Bike Short. Right away I was informed that in total, my purchase used 29 water bottles derived from landfills, prevented 21.44 lbs. of CO2, and saved 3.59 gallons of water.

Not long after, I received my 100% recycled and recyclable package in the mail. After having owned these two pieces from Girlfriend Collective for a few months now, I can confidently say that this is by far my favorite workout set ever. When I tell you I wore this to the gym every week the entire fall semester, it’s not a joke. Both the top and the shorts were pretty compressional; however, I think there’s a perfect balance of comfort and compression! This set is so versatile. I performed several different activities ranging from running long distances, biking, lifting, and rowing, and never felt a lick of discomfort. I never had to worry about pulling up my shorts and fixing my top. Although the top is referred to as a “bra”, when paired with the high waisted leggings or shorts, it’s a perfect match for a workout set! I even found that the top gave me ample support without the use of another sports bra underneath.

Overall rating 10/10

Another plus:

When shopping with Girlfriend Collective, you have the option to pay with Catch. When you do that, you receive 10% credit back! Plus, if you’re a first time user, you get an extra $20 bonus. Girlfriend Collective has this partnership to help cut credit card fees, so we (the customers) get money back and they (the owners) get to save money and put it towards positive actions within their company. It’s a win, win! In fact, I just used the credit I received last fall to purchase my first ever workout dress… stay tuned!

To do a price comparison with other not-so-sustainable companies… places like Lululemon have leggings that over over $120! Girlfriend Collective doesn’t even have a pair a leggings over $100 on their website AND their leggings are doing good for the earth and the people!

In my opinion, I was very pleased with my order at Girlfriend Collective. I can’t imagine purchasing activewear anywhere else!
