Have you ever visited a national park, or at least have it on the bucket list…? Maybe you just love the mountains, trees, and fresh air. Well, this brand is for you.
Upon being assigned my intern project this summer, I was asked to perform an abundance of brand research. While researching- trying to keep my company’s brand image in mind, while also remembering my own values, I strove to find a brand that spoke to sustainability. Little did I know I was about to uncover one of the most thoughtful brands yet…
Who are they?
Their mission: “To leave it better than we found it.”
“Our goal is to protect and preserve parklands for generations to come by educating, advocating, volunteering, and activating park supports to get involved in conservation” (Parks Project, 2023).
Parks Project dates all the way back to 2014 when a group was volunteering in the Santa Monica Mountains and very quickly realized how a lack of funding presented a crisis for the parklands.
Starting with nothing but a group full of ambition, passion, and grit, they began operating out of any space possible- garages, cars, coffee shops, etc. As the years continued, partnerships with the National Parks and National Geographic came pouring in- the company was growing and by 2020, Parks Project had given back over $1,000,000 to the parks. In just one year following that, the amount doubled.
What sets them apart?
Action.
Parks Project is much more than just a clothing brand. They dedicate their time to actual service in the outdoors. When arriving on their website, you aren’t just shown a plethora of clothing, but rather a variety of information regarding different parks, how to get involved, in-depth information about who they are as a company, what certifications they have, etc.
Transparency and initiative? Could it get any better…?
Materials
From their B Corp certification, to their Global Organic Textile Standard certification (GOTS), Parks Project is dedicated to responsible harvesting of raw, organic materials.
To break that down into simpler terms, their practices consist of replenishing soil fertility while steering clear of any toxic materials including pesticides and synthetic fertilizers. All garments are tested for harmful substances to ensure the material touching our skin is safe.
Getting Involved with Parks Project
Upon arriving on their website, anyone has immediate access to park guides and finders, “trail mixes” (playlists specially curated for your hikes), and an abundance of information about their “volunteer alliance”.
Anyone is welcome to join and you can even sign up right now! Over the course of the year, there are events held all over the country and you may pick and choose which events you want to join. Provided to each Field Crew member, you will receive a cleanup kit along with your very own Parks Project bandana. Simple- all you need to bring is yourself!

Conclusion
From their diverse assortment of graphic tees, hammocks, and camping supplies, to their park educational programs and volunteering opportunities, Parks Project is the one stop shop for your outdoors experience. Just by shopping with them or attending one of their events, you can be part of the impact.
I always write these and afterwards feel as though some of my readers assume this is an advertisement of some kind. Nope! Just genuine interest in a company dedicating their time and efforts to making a change for the better. Especially when speaking about Parks Project… I will always stand behind a brand who encourages anyone to get out in nature, feel the warmth of the sunshine, and look out at the world from a higher point of view.
